Ugly sketchbook mysterious creatures

I’m so glad that last year I started this low-pressure sketchbook aka the ugly sketchbook!

Originally, I started it just to fill little gaps of time (waiting in lines, riding somewhere, things like that) and to draw instead of being on my phone. But at first it was really hard for me to relax and just mindlessly scribble in it. It also had to become a magnificent art book, just like all the other sketchbooks I’m currently working on.

But gradually, I trained myself to loosen up and draw the first thing that came to mind, even if it was “Oh no, this isn’t my style!” or “This doesn’t fit into my world at all.”

And that’s how I started drawing these strange semi-abstract creatures! Which, surprisingly, ended up fitting into my world quite naturally, they already have their own place in it and even a bit of lore.

Moreover, I actually find this style really interesting and I hope to develop it further and maybe borrow some of its shapes and movement language for my main style as well.
